1. About BookStack

BookStack is a personal book-tracking application that allows users to record books they have read or are currently reading, add ratings, notes, tags, and view reading statistics.

BookStack is intended for personal, non-commercial use only.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. By using BookStack, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. User Content

All book information, notes, tags, ratings, reading dates, and photos captured via the in-app camera entered into the App are referred to as "User Content".

• User Content is stored locally on your device.
• Photos taken within the App are stored only on your device and are never uploaded or shared.
• You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of your User Content.
• BookStack does not claim ownership over your User Content.

4. Subscriptions & Purchases

Premium Features

BookStack offers optional premium features via:

• Auto-renewable subscriptions (monthly or yearly)
• One-time lifetime purchase (where available)

Premium features may include:

• Unlimited books in the home carousel
• Advanced reading statistics
• Custom tags and book covers
• Yearly reading summaries
• Home screen widgets

Billing

• Payments are processed by Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
• BookStack does not handle or store payment information.
• Subscription pricing and billing periods are clearly displayed before purchase.

Auto-Renewal

• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

Free Trials

If a free trial is offered, unused portions of the trial will be forfeited when a subscription is purchased.

5. Refunds

Refunds are handled by the platform provider (Apple or Google) in accordance with their respective policies. BookStack does not issue refunds directly.

6. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, layout, animations, and branding, is owned by BookStack and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the App
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
• Use the App for unlawful purposes

7. Third-Party Services

BookStack may use third-party services to support core functionality, such as:

• Google Books API (for fetching book covers and metadata)
• RevenueCat (for subscription management)
• New York Times Books API (for displaying weekly bestseller lists)

These services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

8. NYT Bestsellers Content

BookStack displays weekly bestseller lists sourced from The New York Times Books API. This content is provided for informational purposes only.

• Bestsellers data is provided by The New York Times and is subject to their terms of use.
• BookStack does not claim ownership of NYT bestseller data, rankings, or descriptions.
• Book rankings, descriptions, and cover images are displayed as provided by the NYT API and are not modified by BookStack.
• NYT data is cached for up to 24 hours and is not stored permanently, resold, or shared with third parties.
• The "Add to Library" feature allows you to save a book to your personal local library; it does not constitute a purchase or external transaction.

9. Disclaimer

BookStack is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

We do not guarantee that the App will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BookStack shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the App.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the App if these Terms are violated.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
